Boost Your Chances of a Healthy Pregnancy in 2024

At Medfem Fertility Clinic, we have helped tens of thousands of couples over the last four decades to fall pregnant and have healthy babies, and we are proud to raise awareness by sharing our best advice on how to boost your chances of conceiving and having a healthy pregnancy.
Since the 1980’s, Medfem Fertility Clinic’s team has assisted couples struggling with infertility to experience the joy of parenthood, helping to bring more than 18,000 babies into the world! It is our joy and pleasure to help couples reach their family dream, and we spare no effort to provide every couple that reaches out to us with the best chance of a successful outcome.
As we observe Pregnancy Awareness Week 2024, we are pleased to share our best advice about the issues that will not only boost your chances of falling pregnant, but that will also help ensure a healthy pregnancy that will culminate in a healthy baby in your arms.
Both extensive research and our four decades of experience helping couples to achieve pregnancy have shown that several lifestyle choices affect the ability to conceive, and we highlight these to help parents-to-be take immediate steps to boost their fertility and their chances of falling pregnant.
Lifestyle choices that affect pregnancy
Achieving a pregnancy, carrying it to term and delivering a healthy baby is only possible when healthy sperm fertilises a healthy egg in a healthy internal environment, because this is the only way in which there can be a healthy embryo that is able to successfully implant in the lining of the uterus and become a baby.
Health eggs, healthy sperm and a healthy internal environment are only produced by couples in which both partners are in good health.
Sadly, in today’s modern world, the number of couples experiencing fertility problems is increasing exponentially and this is directly related to certain lifestyle choices that negatively affect general health and therefore also the quality of the eggs and sperm. These include, for example, smoking and excessive alcohol use, poor dietary habits and poor nutrition, as well as stress.
Our expert team at Medfem recommends a few simple lifestyle changes which you can start making immediately to boost fertility and your chances of getting pregnant.
Eliminate smoking, alcohol and drugs
Smoking is known to have major adverse effects on the quality of both the female partner’s eggs and the male partner’s sperm. Smoking is also known to be a vasal constrictor, which means it constricts the blood vessels which creates a significant problem when it comes to the quality of the lining in the uterus.
Similarly, alcohol as well as recreational drugs are known to reduce fertility in both partners, as well as the success of fertility treatments such as in vitro fertilisation or IVF.
Improve nutrition
A balanced diet boosts the chances of falling pregnant and having a healthy baby.
At Medfem Fertility Clinic, we advise our patients who are overweight to aim for slow, steady weight loss, avoiding fad diets and following instead a low-fat diet, with limited carbohydrate (potatoes, pasta, rice, beans). We also strongly suggest including healthy fats, protein and fibre – such as eggs, poultry, fish, nuts and seeds – as well as all vegetables, in every meal. Where patients are underweight, we suggest they choose high calorie, nutritious foods such as nuts, seeds and avocado, as well as checking for digestive system problems.
We also recommend to and actively encourage our patients to adopt the Mediterranean diet, as we have for decades, based on our own experience of its positive impact on pregnancy rates.
While a balanced diet should provide all the vitamins, minerals and amino acids your body needs for optimum health, it is not always the case given today’s lifestyles. Fortunately, there are also supplements available over-the-counter that contain certain vitamins, minerals, herbs or other amino acids recommended by fertility experts for their role in boosting fertility.
Medfem recommends StaminoGro. The supplements should be taken by both partners continuously until they have achieved a 12-week pregnancy. In clinical applications at Medfem Fertility Clinic, supplementing with StaminoGro has led to improved egg quality and sperm morphology and sperm DNA maturity. StaminoGro also contains Arginine (also known as L’arginine) which may improve sperm development to produce better sperm and increase sperm count, as well as enhance motility. In women, L-arginine may enhance the receptivity of the uterus lining and improve ovarian responses. There is evidence that it also increases pregnancy rates in women undergoing IVF treatments.
Manage stress
One of the biggest factors causing infertility is stress, particularly what is called Time Urgency Perfectionism Stress or TUPS. For 25 years, the Medfem Fertility Clinic team has assisted patients to monitor and reduce their stress to improve their chances of achieving pregnancy, whether naturally or with medical treatments such as IVF.
If you would like to know more about Time Urgency Perfectionism Stress, please visit www.tups.co, where you can complete free screening tests to determine the extent of your TUP stress. You can also download the book, called Faster, Better, Sicker that has helped thousands of patients to better manage this stress. If you are suffering from TUP stress, you can follow the TUP stress management program online or at Medfem Fertility Clinic.
Struggling to fall pregnant?
If a couple has healthy sperm and healthy eggs, their chances of conceiving are that much higher.
Following the lifestyle recommendations above – including avoiding smoking, alcohol and drugs; eating a balanced diet coupled with the daily intake of both StaminoGro; and managing time urgency perfectionism (TUP) stress – will not only improve your general health, your coping mechanisms and your relationships, and reduce the chances of cancer, coronary artery disease, stroke and diabetes, it has also been shown to increase fertility rates – both increasing your chances of getting pregnant, and also assisting with the effectiveness of any medical fertility treatments that you may receive.
Our team at Medfem Fertility Clinic – from accredited and extensively experienced fertility specialists; and trained, qualified theatre staff, nurse practitioners and clinical psychologists; to specialist pharmacists and friendly administration staff – are standing ready to help you boost your fertility and increase your chances of getting pregnant.
